Zeroe: How UAE-based AI-powered SaaS platform is helping companies with their net-zero goals

The UAE aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 in line with the Paris Agreement’s long-term emission reduction strategies. The private sector can play a critical role in accelerating global decarbonization by reducing emissions within their operations and value chains and compensating for their emissions through carbon credits. While companies in the UAE are already integrating sustainability frameworks and conducting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting, many other regulators and organizations are also facing increasing pressure to measure and reduce emissions. In the past few years, the UAE has seen an increasing number of commitments from the private sector towards sustainability and net zero goals, accelerated primarily by national climate goals, the UAE’s Year of Sustainability, and the COP28 hosted in the UAE. Comprehensive measurement and reporting of emissions and data monitoring is a stepping stone towards decarbonization.
Zeroe, a UAE-based cleantech startup was founded in early 2023 to facilitate decarbonization and a simplified transition to net zero for companies in the region. The startup enables organizations to comprehensively account for their emissions and automate the flow of information from internal systems, providing them with streamlined insights that help identify the appropriate areas to decarbonize and optimize capital allocation.
Zeroe’s platform is designed to stay updated with the latest regulatory requirements, ensuring that companies can easily adapt to mandates without in-depth knowledge of the evolving landscape. The platform supports a wide range of frameworks, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Carbon Disclosure Project (CPD), and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), among others. Companies can also utilize Zeroe’s carbon management platform to showcase their sustainability efforts and unlock access to potential green investments and sustainable finance.
One of the key features of Zeroe’s platform is its robust GHG protocol-compliant calculation engine, which is supported by an extensive and constantly expanding emissions factors database. The startup leverages AI to process raw data and intelligently map emissions factors, allowing for GHG protocol-compliant carbon accounting at scale. With its insights, Zeroe helps prioritize high-impact emissions reduction actions tailored to the unique goals of organizations. Notably, Zeroe’s tech-enabled platform can deliver actionable insights in as little as 6 weeks, reducing significant time as well as chances of human error.
With US$2.2 million in seed funding, Zeroe is deploying its software as a service (SaaS) platform to organizations in the GCC and Southeast Asia, where the startup is already seeing strong momentum. The startup plans to build out further how AI can support organizations in their decarbonization pathways, reducing the need for in-house emissions expertise. By harnessing the latest innovations, Zeroe aims to accelerate progress in the decarbonization space.
